Payments & fees
What is Crypto payments?
Crypto payments let fans pay creators using cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, Ethereum or USDT, which settle without card networks and cannot be reversed through a chargeback once confirmed.
Card networks and payment processors have long been cautious about adult content, which has led to account closures and policy changes across the industry. Cryptocurrency payments avoid that dependency because they move between wallets without a card network in the middle.
For fans, paying in crypto means sending coins from an exchange or wallet to a payment address. For creators, the main advantages are that payments cannot be charged back, and that payouts can go straight to a wallet the creator controls. The trade-offs are that some fans are unfamiliar with crypto and that non-stablecoin prices can move.
MyShrine currently takes fan payments in cryptocurrency, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, USDT and more than 100 other coins, processed by NOWPayments. Fans can pay directly or top up a prepaid wallet balance. Card payments are being added. Creator payouts are made weekly in crypto to the creator's own wallet after identity verification.
Crypto tax rules vary by country, so creators should keep records of what they receive and take advice on their own situation.
