Payments & fees

What is Chargeback?

A chargeback is when a card payment is forcibly reversed by the buyer's bank after a dispute, pulling the money back from the seller, often weeks after the sale was completed.

A chargeback happens when a cardholder disputes a payment with their bank and the bank reverses it. The money is taken back from the merchant, and platforms often pass that loss, and sometimes an extra fee, on to the creator whose sale was reversed.

For adult creators, chargebacks are a known risk. A fan can buy content, download it and later claim the payment was unauthorised. Because disputes can arrive long after the sale, creators may see earnings disappear from their balance after they have already delivered.

MyShrine currently takes fan payments in cryptocurrency, either directly or through a prepaid wallet balance. Crypto payments cannot be charged back once confirmed, so tributes, content sales and gifts are not exposed to card disputes. Card payments are being added, and card-specific dispute rules will apply to those payments when they arrive.

Wherever you sell, keep clear records of what you delivered and when, and use platforms that show fans the full price before they pay. Transparent pricing reduces genuine disputes.
