What is Stablecoin?
A stablecoin is a cryptocurrency designed to hold a steady value, usually pegged one-to-one to a currency such as the US dollar, so its price does not swing like Bitcoin's.
Most cryptocurrencies, such as Bitcoin and Ethereum, can rise or fall sharply in value within days. Stablecoins are built to avoid that by tracking a reference asset, most often the US dollar. The best-known examples are USDT (Tether) and USDC.
For creators, stablecoins solve a practical problem. If a fan sends a tribute in a volatile coin, its value may have changed by the time the creator converts it. Receiving or holding a stablecoin keeps the value closer to what was agreed.
On MyShrine fans can pay using USDT alongside Bitcoin, Ethereum and more than 100 other coins. Creators receive payouts in crypto to their own wallet, and choosing a stablecoin for that wallet is one way to keep earnings predictable.
Stablecoins are not risk-free. They depend on the issuer holding enough reserves to maintain the peg, and each network has its own transfer fees. Always double-check the network when sending or receiving, because sending coins on the wrong network can result in lost funds.
