What is Pay-per-message?
Pay-per-message is a chat model where fans pay a set price for each message they send a creator, so creators are paid for their time rather than answering unpaid DMs.
Direct messages take time, and on many platforms that time goes unpaid. Pay-per-message (PPM) puts a price on each message a fan sends, so conversation becomes part of a creator's income instead of unpaid work.
PPM works best when the price reflects the attention a creator actually gives. Some creators keep it low to encourage casual chat and sell PPV inside the conversation; others price it higher and promise detailed, personal replies. Being clear about reply times avoids frustration.
On MyShrine creators set their own message rate, and fans see that rate including the 10% service fee. Chat also supports PPV messages, tips, voice messages and emoji reactions. If a creator sets £2 per message, the fan pays £2.20 and the creator receives £1.80 for every message.
Be upfront about what a paid message includes and how quickly you usually reply. Fans who know what to expect are more likely to keep coming back.
