Content & selling
What is PPV (pay-per-view)?
PPV, or pay-per-view, is content a fan unlocks with a one-off payment, typically a photo, video or audio file sent in a message or listed in a creator's store.
Pay-per-view means a fan pays once to unlock a specific piece of content. It is often used inside direct messages, where a creator sends a locked preview and the fan pays to see the full file. The same principle applies to individual items sold in a content store.
PPV suits creators who do not want to rely on subscriptions. Fans only pay for what interests them, and creators can price each item individually based on its length, effort or exclusivity. Mass messages with a PPV attachment are a common way to promote new content to existing fans.
MyShrine has no subscriptions; everything is pay-per-item or pay-per-interaction. Creators can send PPV messages in chat and sell photos, videos and audio in their content store. A £15 PPV video costs the fan £16.50 including the 10% service fee, and the creator receives £13.50. Fans see a short celebration when they unlock PPV in chat.
Describe PPV content accurately. Clear titles and honest previews lead to fewer disappointed fans and better repeat sales.
