What is Content moderation?
Content moderation is how a platform checks uploads, messages and streams against its rules, combining automated scanning with human review to remove illegal or prohibited material.
Every platform that hosts user content has to decide what is allowed and how to enforce it. Moderation usually combines automated tools, which scan at scale, with human reviewers, who handle edge cases, reports and appeals.
For adult platforms, good moderation is precise rather than blanket. Consensual adult content between verified adults should be allowed; illegal content, content involving minors, non-consensual material and abuse must be blocked. Clear published rules help creators know where the lines are.
MyShrine uses automated scanning from Project Arachnid and Sightengine, alongside human review. Consensual findom, femdom and BDSM between verified adults is allowed. Banned content includes anything involving minors, coercion, blackmail or exposure threats, people who cannot consent, incest or step-family role-play, and in-person meetings or escorting. Store content is reviewed before it goes live, and creators can appeal decisions.
Read a platform's content policy before you upload, especially if you have had content removed elsewhere.
