What is Counter-offer?
A counter-offer is when a creator responds to a fan's custom request with a different price or scope instead of accepting or declining it outright, leaving the fan to accept or decline.
Not every custom request fits a creator's standard pricing. A counter-offer lets the creator say 'yes, but at this price' or 'yes, with these changes', rather than turning the request down. It keeps the conversation open while protecting the creator's time.
Good counter-offers are specific. Explain what changed and why, for example a longer video than your menu covers or a faster turnaround than usual. A short, polite note makes it more likely the fan accepts.
On MyShrine, custom requests are paid in full up front, so counter-offers are handled against the amount already paid. If the new price is higher, the fan can pay the difference; if lower, the difference is refunded; and if the fan declines, they receive a full refund. Fans respond from their custom request tracking page.
Counter-offers are for adjusting price and scope, not for pushing someone beyond the limits of either party. Either side can walk away.
