What is Cash gift?
A cash gift is money a fan sends through a creator's wishlist or gift page instead of buying a physical item, letting the creator choose how to use it.
Cash gifts sit alongside physical wishlist items. Instead of a fan ordering a specific product, they contribute money directly, often towards something the creator has named, such as a trip, a course or new equipment, or simply as a general gift.
Some wishlist platforms tie cash gifts to specific items or charge higher fees on them. Throne, for example, reportedly charges fans around 9.75% plus card processing on cash gifts. It is worth checking how a platform handles cash gifts before relying on them.
On MyShrine, cash gifts sit on the creator's wishlist next to physical items found through Amazon product search. The creator keeps 90% of the gift amount and the fan pays a 10% service fee on top, so a £40 cash gift pays the creator £36 and costs the fan £44.
Creators can also run a cash-gifts-only wishlist if they do not want to receive physical deliveries. Where physical items are used, the creator's delivery address is never shown to fans.
